BUTERE RESIDENTS GIVE VIEWS DEVELOPMENT PRIORITIES

The County Department of Lands, Housing, Urban Areas and Physical Planning held a citizen forum to brief residents on the overview, establishment, and mandate of Butere Municipality and to get their views on development priorities.
Discussions centered on proposed policies and by-laws, plans to constitute a managing board, and key issues including boundary harmonization, infrastructure development, land use planning, tax base, fiscal viability, and the separation of urban and rural areas.
Priority projects were outlined in urban planning, waste management, and road improvement as part of efforts to strengthen service delivery and guide structured growth within the municipality.
Speaking on behalf of the County Executive, Chief Officer for Public Health, Ms. Rose Muhanda, urged residents to embrace and take ownership of the municipality, noting that its establishment is intended to uplift livelihoods and spur local development.
The forum was also attended by Butere Sub-County Administrator, Mr. Hillary Angote, Acting Butere Municipality Manager, Ms. Margaret Oyando, Director of Physical Planning, Mr. Stephen Chune, DCC Butere, Mr. Kipyegon Vincent among other senior officials.
