STRENGTHENING SUB-COUNTY MULTI-SECTORAL TEAMS FOR EARLY CHILDHOOD DEVELOPMENT
The Kakamega Multi-Sectoral Teams (MSTs) convened an induction meeting for Sub-County Multi-Sectoral Teams, bringing together a 15-member committee led by Sub-County Administrators, the Deputy County Commissioner (DCC), and departmental heads.
The objective of the meeting was to build the capacity of MSTs at the sub-county level to effectively champion and articulate the five-pillar programme of the Nurturing Care Framework for Early Childhood Development (NCfECD). This marks the first in a series of planned engagements aimed at strengthening coordination and service delivery for young children across the county.
The initiative was co-sponsored by KMET, Investing in Children and Society (ICS), and the Lake Region Economic Bloc (LREB). The CECM, Public Service and Administration, Dr. Bonface Okoth, officially opened the session, affirming the county government’s commitment to working closely with development partners and the national government to achieve the programme’s goals. He encouraged partners to cascade the initiative to all twelve sub-counties, noting that the current meeting brought together representatives from Malava, Shinyalu, and Mumias West.
The Chief Officer for County Administration, Mr. Ambrose Makokha, among other senior officials were also in attendance.
