COG PUSHES FOR INCREASED COUNTY ALLOCATION IN 2026 REVENUE BILL.
H.E. Governor Dr. Fernandes Barasa, FCPA, Chair of the Finance and Planning Committee at the Council of Governors (CoG), today, together with fellow governors, presented a memorandum on the Division of Revenue Bill, 2026 before the Senate Finance and Budget Committee.
In their joint submission, the governors maintained their proposal of KSh 534.96 billion allocation to counties for the 2026/2027 Financial Year. This is higher than the Senate’s proposal of KSh 454.74 billion and the Commission on Revenue Allocation (CRA) recommendation of KSh 458.94 billion.
The governors noted that the proposed allocation is necessary to enable county governments to meet increasing financial obligations, enhance service delivery, and safeguard the gains made under devolution.
They further committed to prioritising the settlement of pending bills, while ensuring prudent use of public resources to support sustainable development across all counties.
