Newly Graduated Farmer Field School Facilitators to Strengthen Climate-Smart Agriculture.
Kakamega county, today, celebrated the graduation of 15 Farmer Field School (FFS) Facilitators at Mabanga Agricultural Training Centre after completing a 10-day training on FFS methodology aimed at boosting agricultural extension services.
The Chief Officer for Agriculture and Irrigation, Mr. Emmanuel Kariuki, commended the facilitators for their commitment to improving productivity and livelihoods across the County.
The cohort includes officers from the Department of Agriculture and Livestock as well as lead farmers selected from across Kakamega County. The training was conducted under the Tunza Programme, a regional initiative supporting climate-smart agriculture across counties in the Lake Region Economic Bloc.
Funded by the Green Climate Fund and the Government of Denmark, the programme aims at enhancing food security and sustainable livelihoods through improved farming practices.
Kakamega county has already reaffirmed its commitment to expanding Farmer Field School groups and strengthening agricultural extension support to empower farmers and promote resilient farming systems in line with Governor Barasa’s Food Security and Wealth Creation agenda.
