ENDING A DECADE OF DELAY: SHAMAKHUBU LEVEL IV HOSPITAL NEARS COMPLETION

Residents of Shinyalu Sub-county are set to benefit from improved access to quality healthcare as the construction of Shamakhubu Level IV Hospital enters its final stages ahead of its official opening, with plumbing and electrical installation works currently underway.

The hospital, whose construction had stalled since 2015, is now nearing completion under the leadership of H.E Governor Dr. Fernandes Barasa, marking a major milestone in his efforts to revive and complete abandoned development projects for the benefit of residents.

Once operational, the 100-bed modern health facility will significantly ease the burden on residents who have for years been forced to travel long distances in search of specialized medical services in Kakamega and other areas. It will also bring essential healthcare services closer to the people of Shinyalu and neighbouring communities while reducing pressure on existing referral facilities.

The project forms part of Governor Barasa’s commitment to strengthening healthcare services across Kakamega County through the provision of accessible, affordable and quality medical care, while ensuring that stalled projects are completed and put to use for the benefit of wananchi.
