COUNTY, LIVING GOODS TO PARTNER INSTRENGTHENING COMMUNITY HEALTH SERVICES.
The Department of Health Services and Living Goods has held a co-creation meeting aimed at exploring a partnership to strengthen digital health interventions in support of Primary Health Care (PHC) services across Kakamega County.
The proposed partnership seeks to support the county in achieving key health indicators, including Reproductive, Maternal, Newborn, Child and Adolescent Health (RMNCAH), through enhanced community health service delivery and the adoption of digital technologies.
As part of the collaboration, Living Goods plans to conduct a comprehensive health systems assessment to identify existing gaps and inform targeted interventions. The implementation framework will focus on digital enablement through training, provision of equipment and technical modules for Community Health Promoters (CHPs), strengthening supervision through digital dashboards, and supporting CHP compensation based on performance.
Speaking during the meeting, CECM for Health Services Dr. Livingstone Imbayi thanked Living Goods for partnering with the county to support community health initiatives, noting that the collaboration will contribute to Governor Fernandes Barasa’s Quality Healthcare pillar.
Chief Officer for Public Health Mrs. Rose Muhanda reiterated the county’s commitment to empowering community health systems through its network of over 4,200 Community Health Promoters. She noted that under the co-financing arrangement, the County Government of Kakamega will continue providing stipends to CHPs to facilitate their movement and community outreach activities aimed at promoting maternal and child health services.
The Living Goods team, led by Dr. David Oluoch, noted that once fully implemented, the initiative will enable the county to effectively track maternal and child health indicators through a digitized community health system, enhancing real-time reporting, monitoring, and decision-making.
The partnership is anchored on a co-creation, co-implementation, and co-financing model, underscoring the shared commitment by both parties to strengthen community health systems and accelerate the achievement of Universal Health Coverage through innovative digital health solutions.
Present in the meeting was Ag. Director of Public Health Mr. Acleaus Mbati, representatives from AMREF Kenya led by Mr. Francis Nanga, Senior officials from Living Goods, and officers from the Department of Health Services.
