MISANGO, KHALABA, BUSOMBI WATER POINTS RECEIVE MAJOR REPAIRS, RESTORING RELIABLE WATER SUPPLY.
The County Government of Kakamega, through the Department of Water, Environment, Climate Change and Natural Resources, has successfully undertaken major repair works at key water supply facilities in Khwisero and Matungu sub-counties, restoring reliable and uninterrupted water supply to thousands of residents.
At Misango Hills Water project in Khwisero Sub-county, the county government completed major repairs on the water pumping system and intake.
Speaking during the inspection tour, Chief Officer for Water and Climate Change Dr. Mariam Were assured residents of Khwisero and Matungu sub-counties of the County Government’s commitment to ensuring a reliable and uninterrupted water supply through continuous maintenance and rehabilitation of water infrastructure. She noted that the completed repairs at Misango will guarantee continuous water distribution thereby improving access to clean and safe water for the residents. She, however, noted that the continued vandalism of water infrastructure in the region has been a major setback to Governor Fernandes Barasa’s Amatsi Khumuliango clarion call.
In Matungu Sub-county, the Khalaba Primary School Water Borehole also underwent major repairs, restoring water supply to Khalaba Centre, Khalaba Dispensary, Khalaba Secondary School, Khalaba Primary School, Khalaba Market, and the surrounding community. The rehabilitation is expected to improve service delivery in public institutions while ensuring residents have consistent access to clean water.
Dr. Were, further, inspected the Busombi Water project in readiness for it’s commissioning.
