GOVERNOR BARASA HIGHLIGHTS COUNTY-WIDE DEVELOPMENT MILESTONES DURING KOYONZO CHURCH SERVICE.
H.E. Governor Dr. Fernandes Barasa, FCPA, OGW, today joined Christian faithful for a worship service at St. Thomas Esheyala ACK Church in Koyonzo Ward, Matungu Sub-County, where he commended the church for its continued role in promoting moral values, peace, unity and community development.
Addressing the congregation, the Governor said his administration remains committed to delivering equitable development across all parts of Kakamega County through the implementation of the Six-Point Agenda. He noted that while significant progress has been made, the County Government remains focused on rolling out more projects to improve the lives of residents.
Governor Barasa highlighted key development milestones in Matungu Sub-County, including the completion of the Matungu–Ogalo Road, which has improved connectivity and enhanced economic activities. He also announced that the tarmacking of the Mumias-Matawa–Indangalasia Road has resumed, strengthening transport links between Matungu and Mumias West sub-counties. In the health sector, he cited the completion of the modern maternity wing at Matungu Level 4 Hospital, continued investment in other health facilities, expansion of water supply projects and construction of modern ECDE classrooms as part of the County Government’s efforts to improve service delivery.
The Governor further noted that the County Government is steadily completing both inherited stalled projects and those initiated under his administration to ensure no part of Kakamega is left behind. He cited the revived Koyonzo Market, Bukhungu Stadium and the Kakamega County Level 6 Hospital as among key projects progressing towards completion. He also announced that the rollout of the County’s social grants programme is on course, with KSh 60 million set to be disbursed to various community groups to strengthen economic empowerment and improve household incomes.
On national matters, Governor Barasa called on political leaders to exercise restraint, avoid inflammatory and divisive remarks, and uphold the rule of law to safeguard peace, national unity and stability.
The Governor was accompanied by Members of the County Assembly led by Majority Leader Hon. Philip Maina, Mayoni Ward MCA Hon. Frederick Watitwa, other county officials and local leaders.
