CONSTRUCTION OF MAYONI-HARAMBEE WATER PROJECT RESUMES

The County Government of Kakamega has reaffirmed its commitment to expanding access to clean and safe water following the resumption of works at the Mayoni–Harambee Water Project in Matungu Sub-county.

Speaking at the project site while witnessing the resumption of works, the CECM for Water, Environment, Natural Resources and Climate Change, Mrs. Peninah Mukabane, emphasized that Governor Barasa’s administration expects quality work to enable the residents of Matungu to access reliable water. She also confirmed the reception of 44 rolls of water pipes that will cover 4.4 kilometres of the distribution network, connecting more households to the water supply. The inspection marked a key milestone in the implementation of Governor Fernandes Barasa’s pledge to the residents of Harambee.

Once complete, the project is expected to significantly improve access to clean water for households and institutions within the surrounding communities.

As part of the project, a 250-cubic-metre elevated water storage tank will be constructed at Bulimbo Primary School to enhance water storage capacity and ensure a steady supply of water to the area.

The CECM assured the teachers and management of Bulimbo Primary School that the Department of Water remains committed to delivering on Governor Barasa’s water and sanitation agenda by ensuring the successful completion of the project.
