GOVERNOR BARASA PAYS TRIBUTE TO EDUCATION STALWART DR. LUKES SHIROYA KUNDU, HIGHLIGHTS DEVELOPMENT MILESTONES IN MUMIAS WEST.

H.E. Governor FCPA Dr. Fernandes Barasa today joined family, friends and mourners at the home of the late Dr. Lukes Shiroya Kundu in Lureko, Mumias West Sub-County, to pay his last respects during his burial service. Dr. Kundu was the brother of County Executive Committee Member for Roads, Energy and Public Works, Architect Patrick Wesonga Kundu.

Speaking during the funeral service, Governor Barasa described Dr. Kundu as a humble, dedicated and visionary educationist who devoted his life to teaching and serving the public in the Ministry of Education. He noted that Dr. Kundu’s contribution to education touched many lives and left a lasting legacy.

The Governor condoled with the family, friends and all those mourning Dr. Kundu’s passing, wishing them strength and comfort during this difficult time.

Governor Barasa also took the opportunity to highlight his administration’s development milestones in Mumias West, noting that the Matawa Organic Fertilizer Factory is now operational and continues to create jobs while providing affordable organic fertilizer to farmers to boost agricultural productivity and food security.

He added that the ongoing upgrade of the Matawa–Indangalasia Road to bitumen standards will improve connectivity, support trade and spur economic growth. He further announced that Nyapora Health Centre has been completed to enhance access to healthcare services, while the County Government will soon commence fencing of Mumias Level IV Hospital.

The Governor urged leaders to stop exploiting young people for political gain and encouraged the youth to embrace education, entrepreneurship and peaceful participation in nation-building.

The funeral service was attended by Principal Secretary for Higher Education and Research Dr. Beatrice Inyangala, Mumias Central MCA Hon. Ali Okomba, County Executive Committee Members and officials from the National Government.
