GOVERNOR BARASA LAUNCHES KSH 50 MILLION FACELIFT OF MALAVA LEVEL 4 HOSPITAL

H.E. Governor Dr. Fernandes Barasa, FCPA, OGW, today joined Malava Member of Parliament Hon. David Ndakwa, leaders and residents for the official launch of the facelift of Malava Level 4 Hospital.
The rehabilitation project is being implemented through a KSh 50 million allocation from the National Government under the Ministry of Lands, Public Works, Housing and Urban Development’s Affordable Housing Programme. This initiative will modernise key service areas at the hospital, including wards, consultation rooms and the casualty department, as well as the construction of a modern morgue, perimeter fence and main gate to provide patients with a safer, more efficient and dignified healthcare environment.
Speaking during the launch, Governor Barasa said the project is a clear demonstration of the benefits of collaboration between the County Government and the National Government in improving healthcare services.
The Governor thanked H.E. President Dr. William Samoei Ruto for supporting the project, noting that continued investment in health infrastructure is key to delivering quality and accessible healthcare to the people.
The Governor also toured and inspected the hospital and confirmed that the facility is adequately stocked with essential drugs and medical supplies. He reiterated the County Government’s commitment to strengthening healthcare by recruiting qualified health professionals, expanding and modernising health infrastructure, equipping health facilities, and ensuring a consistent supply of essential medicines and medical commodities.
Governor Barasa further highlighted ongoing county development projects in Malava, including the revival of the Tumbeni Dairy Factory, the tarmacking of the Butali–Malekha Road, and continued investments in ECDE infrastructure, water projects and bridge construction.
The Governor was accompanied by MCAs led by Shirugu/Mugai Ward MCA Hon. Peter Wanami, CECM for Health CPA Livingston Imbayi, Members of the County Executive, Administrators and other local leaders.
