GOVERNOR BARASA HIGHLIGHTS COUNTY’S DEVELOPMENT AGENDA DURING RADIO JAMBO LIVE INTERVIEW.

H.E. Governor Dr. Fernandes Barasa, FCPA, OGW, today featured on Radio Jambo’s popular Gidi na Ghost breakfast show during a live broadcast outside the Kakamega County Headquarters, where he highlighted the progress made by his administration in implementing key development programmes across Kakamega County.

During the interview, Governor Barasa outlined his administration’s continued investment in infrastructure development, economic empowerment, and social programmes, citing achievements in the health, agriculture, roads, water, social services, public service, trade, and industrialization sectors.

The Governor highlighted ongoing flagship initiatives, including the expansion of modern ECDE infrastructure, implementation of major water projects under the Amatsi Khumuliango programme, improvement of road networks, construction of modern markets, and industrial projects such as the operational Matawa Organic Fertiliser Plant, the ongoing Tumbeni Dairy Processing Plant, and the County Aggregation and Industrial Park in Likuyani. He noted that these investments are creating opportunities for farmers, traders, youth, and women while driving economic growth across the county.

Governor Barasa also commended the progress of key development projects being undertaken in partnership with the National Government, including the construction of the Kakamega County Level VI Teaching and Referral Hospital, Bukhungu Stadium, the expansion of Kakamega Airstrip, and major inter-county road infrastructure. He reiterated his administration’s commitment to improving service delivery, promoting accountability, and ensuring that development reaches every part of the county through strengthened partnerships, public participation, and responsive governance.

The Governor further commended the strong partnership between the County Government and the media, noting that it has played a vital role in keeping residents informed about government programmes and development projects while promoting transparency and accountability. He also responded to questions from residents on various development issues and ongoing county programmes during the interactive live interview.
