REHABILITATION OF MWAMBA WATER SPRINGS KICKS OFF

The County Government of Kakamega has handed over the Mwamba Springs Water Project in Lugari sub-county to the contractor for rehabilitation.

The project is being implemented by the National Government through the Financially Locally-Led Climate Action (FLLoCA) and involves rehabilitation of three springs and a sump, installation of a water pump, rehabilitation of the powerhouse and installation of a solar power system to support water supply operations.

The project marks part of the County Government’s efforts to increase household access to water and advance Governor Fernandes Barasa’s water and sanitation agenda across the county.

Additional works will comprise of rehabilitation of a guard house and elevated steel tank, construction of a water kiosk, as well as the laying of a pipeline to facilitate water distribution to residents.

The exercise was attended by the area MCA Hon. Bernard Bokanda, Director for Water and Sanitation Eng. Fred Atwa and the Director of Environment Mr. Anthony Munanga.
