Infrastructure is the backbone that connects and enables Governor Barasaβs Six Pillar Development Agenda for Kakamega County.
H.E. Governor Dr. Fernandes Barasa, FCPA, OGW., today inspected the ongoing tarmacking of the 10-kilometre MumiasβMatawaβIndangalasia Road, an important connector serving residents of Mumias West and Matungu Sub-Counties.
The upgrade delivers on the Governorβs promise to residents while opening up the corridor to better mobility, trade and economic opportunities. Once completed, the road will ease movement of people and goods, improve access to markets and essential services, and support economic activity along the route.
Speaking to residents in Mwiboma, Governor Barasa said his administration will continue investing in road infrastructure while prioritising healthcare, water, agriculture, ECDE and polytechnic education, social empowerment and other essential services that directly improve residentsβ daily lives, anchored on good governance.
The MumiasβMatawaβIndangalasia Road is part of the growing network of roads being improved across Kakamega County. Other projects include LumakandaβManyonyi in Lugari, ShivakalaβNyayo Tea Zone in Lurambi, HarambeeβMusambaβMalaha in Matungu and Mumias East, Kambi MwanzaβChirovaniβRondo in Shinyalu, IngotseβNavakholoβChebuyusi in Navakholo, KilingiliβEkonjeroβEmako in Khwisero and SpenconβRiver Nzoia in Likuyani.
The Governor also highlighted the County Governmentβs social protection programme, through which KSh. 60 million is being distributed to support vulnerable residents across the county.
Governor Barasa was accompanied by the area MCA, Hon. Ali Okomba, CECM for Roads, Architect Patrick Kundu, alongside other leaders.
