COUNTY HOLDS QUARTERLY REVIEW MEETING ON NURTURING CARE FOR EARLY CHILDHOOD DEVELOPMENT

The County Government of Kakamega has held a quarterly review meeting for the County Multisectoral Team (MST) on the Nurturing Care Framework for Early Childhood Development (NCfECD).

The meeting brought together representatives from various County and National Government departments, development partners and other stakeholders involved in promoting early childhood development in Kakamega County.

Speaking during the meeting, the Director of Resource Mobilization and Donor Relations, Mr. Edwin Omung’ala, emphasized the need for continued collaboration among government departments, national government agencies and development partners in implementing interventions that promote children’s survival, growth, development and overall well-being.

The quarterly review provided an opportunity for members of the MST to share updates on activities being implemented by different departments in line with the Nurturing Care Framework for Early Childhood Development.

The Nurturing Care Framework identifies five key components critical to optimal early childhood development: good health, adequate nutrition, responsive caregiving, opportunities for early learning, and security and safety.

The framework promotes a multisectoral approach, recognizing that the well-being and development of young children require coordinated interventions across health, nutrition, education, social protection, water and sanitation, and other sectors.

Present at the meeting was the KMET team led by Mrs. Abella Awour, alongside representatives from Sustainable Organic Farming Development Initiatives (SOFDI) and the Cereal Growers Association.
