ONE-STOP-SHOP DISABILITY ASSESSMENT EXERCISE CONDUCTED IN NAVAKHOLO SUB-COUNTY

The County Government of Kakamega in partnership with Cheshire Disability and Mumias EARC today conducted a One-Stop-Shop Disability Assessment Outreach in Navakholo Sub-County to assess and register persons with disabilities with the National Council for Persons with Disabilities (NCPWD), enabling them to access government programmes, services and benefits available to persons with disabilities, including opportunities under the 30 percent preferential procurement provision.

Speaking during the exercise, County Disability Mainstreaming Coordinator Ms. Faith Awour noted that the initiative brings together officers from different county departments to fast-track the assessment and registration process while reducing the cost and inconvenience of travelling to Kakamega for the services.

Cheshire Disability team lead Mrs. Lucy Obiri reaffirmed the organisation’s commitment to supporting the County health sector in promoting access to quality healthcare for residents.

The outreach was attended by technical officers from the department Health Services.
