COUNTY GOVERNMENT IN PARTNERSHIP WITH TRANSPARENCY INTERNATIONAL DRAFT FRAMEWORK FOR ACCESS TO INFORMATION

Officers from the County Government of Kakamega in partnership with officials from Transparency International today commenced a two day Technical Working Group Workshop to develop an access to Information policy and law for Kakamega County aimed at strengthening access to public information, enhancing transparency and accountability, promoting citizen participation and improving the county government’s compliance with the constitutional and legislative framework on access to information.

Speaking during the workshop county ombudsman Mr. Nelson Majimbo highlighted that this framework would strengthen the public’s trust and increase transparency in the County Government.

County Communications Director Mr. Sumba Juma stated that success of the exercise relies heavily on the collaboration of other departments.

Present were Directors Chris Odongo (ICT), CPA Herman Dennis Lusuli (Budget) and County Solicitor Ms Mildred Wandema.
