ELECTED LEADERS SHOULD BE RESPECTED AND ACCORDED SECURITY – OPARANYA
Kakamega County Governor H.E Hon. Wycliffe Ambetsa Oparanya has asked the National Government to provide enough security to elected leaders serving the public in both levels of government. This comes two weeks after Bomet Governor was hit by a police canister in the face at a rally that turned rowdy, forcing him to seek special treatment in South Africa.
Governor Oparanya was speaking on Sunday at a Salvation Army’s graduation ceremony held at the Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology, where 155 cadets from the Kenya West Territory, having undergone a two years training at the Officers Training College (OTC) – Turbo, were ordained and commissioned by Territorial Commander Commissioner Kenneth Hodder to become Lieutenants.
Governor Oparanya asked the National government to fasten the on going process of setting up a credible IEBC officers so as to have a free and fair general election next year.
Commissioner Hodder urged the newly ordained Lieutenants to put their faith in the Lord, listen closely to the Holy Spirit and proclaim the salvation that is offered through Jesus Christ.
Oparanya rewarded Commissioners Kenneth G. Hodder and Jolene K. Hodder with a family present and wished them well as they proceed on transfer in the mission to spread the Word of God to the world.
Governor Oparanya later joined CORD Leader Hon Raila Odinga and other leaders in Bomet County for prayers and a welcoming ceremony for Bomet County Governor H.E Hon. Isaac Ruto who jetted back in the country on Friday from South Africa.
The Governor was accompanied by CECM Robert Sumbi, Sinoko Ward MCA Hon. Hilton Luvai, CoS Nabii Nabwera among other leaders.
