COUNTY HOSTS UNIFORMED SERVICE THANKSGIVING MASS AS GOVERNOR OPARANYA CONDEMNS RISING CASES OF INSECURITY IN BUTERE

The County Government of Kakamega hosted the national thanksgiving prayer breakfast for the country’s unifomed service at the County chambers hall, County headquarters.

The prayer service comprising of the Kenya Police, Adminstration Police, Prisons, Kenya Wildlife Service, Kenya Forests, National Youth Service and the County Enforcement Officers is an annual event held regionally to pray for members of the disciplined service together with their families. The uniformed service members also use the opportunity to assist the less fortunate members of the society by giving donations to those deserving. It also aims to create co-operation and a better understanding between the public and the disciplined forces.

County Secretary Madam Jacinta Aluoch Odhiambo, Ag. CECM for Public Service & Administration Joseph Indire and the County Deputy Head of Security Geoffrey Onguko were present during the event.

Meanwhile, Governor Wycliffe Ambetsa Oparanya has called on the national security agencies to curb increasing incidences of crime in Butere sub county. The Governor said four victims of these henious acts of crime were buried in the area last week as alarmed and helpless citizens watched. The Governor who was speaking during the funeral service of the late Mwalimu Aggrey Aura Opindi at Lukohe village in Marama North ward, Butere sub county of Kakamega County, urged residents to resolve issues amicably without resorting to violence. The late Mwalimu Opindi, succumbed to cancer on 18th August 2018 aged 77 years. Later the Governor attended the funeral service of the late Lilian Ruth Matianyi at Mbihi Primary School, Wamuluma Ward, Vihiga sub county, Vihiga county. The late Lilian Matianyi who was a sister to CECM for Lands, Housing and Physical Planning Alfred Matianyi died aged 51 years.

The Governor was accompanied by Senator Cleophas Malala, MPs Emmanuel Wangwe, Godfrey Osotsi, Benard Shinali, Caleb Hamisi, ODM Secretary General Edwin Sifuna and Members of County Assembly among other leaders.
