GOVERNOR OPARANYA MOURNS KAKAMEGA INVESTMENT AGENCY CEO

Kakamega governor H.E. FCPA Wycliffe Ambetsa Oparanya has sent his condolences to the family and friends of madam Ebby Kavai who succumbed to cancer at Aga Khan hospital, Kisumu early today.

“It is with a deep sense of loss, sorrow and shock that I learnt of the death of Ebby Kavai, the CEO of Kakamega Investment Agency,” the governor said in his message.

“Her death has robbed the County of a respected education administrator and an amiable and hardworking CEO who was committed to turn around the economic development of our great County,” he added.

The governor added: “On my behalf and on behalf of my family and Kakamega County at large, I wish to send my heartfelt condolences to her family, friends and colleagues at the County Government of Kakamega. I pray to Almighty God to give you strength to bear the tragic loss.”

The 60 year old Ebby Kavai, HSC, was born in Sabatia Vihiga County and trained as a teacher at Kenyatta University. She proceeded to Kericho Training College as a tutor before moving to Kaimosi and Moi Girls Vokoli as a deputy principal. She was promoted to Principal of Bishop Sulumeti Girls, Lugari in 2000 before assuming duties as the Principal at Sacred Heart Mukumu Girls in 2007.

In 2015 she was appointed County Executive Committee Member (CECM) for Education, Science and Technology by H.E. governor Oparanya. In 2018 she was appointed as the Chief Executive Officer of Kakamega Investment Agency.

Madam Ebby was diagnosed with cancer in 2019 at Aga Khan Hospital Kisumu where she underwent chemotherapy and was due for surgery. However she got worse yesterday and was rushed for an emergency operation. She succumbed before day break today.

She is survived by two children Mercy and Steve Okova.
