SIGALAGALA POLYTECHNIC DONATES PPEs’ TO ASSIST IN THE FIGHT AGAINST COVID-19.

The fight against the spread of COVID-19 in Kakamega today received a shot in the arm when Sigalagala National Polytechnic donated three modern hand washing machines and 1,000 woven face masks to the County through the Chairman of the Resource Mobilization Committee, deputy governor Prof. Philip Museve Kutima.

“Today’s donation is one of the most advanced ones we have received from donors; We thank the institution for their gesture to support our efforts,” Prof. Kutima said while receiving the donations at the County headquarters, Kakamega

“We have at least 200 markets in the county and we will ensure each market is considered. We look forward for more support from other well wishers,” he said. Markets are considered as high risk areas in the spread of this disease.

Ms Catherine Kalonye, the Principal Sigalagala National Polytechnic said the donation is part of the institution’s efforts to support the fight against the spread of the virus.

“90% of work is being done by our trainees who are able to produce 500 masks and five hand washing machines per day” said Ms Kalonye.

Mechanical and automotive students are involved in production of the hand washing machines while their Fashion Design colleagues are producing the masks.
