AMPATH DONATES ASSORTED MEDICAL SUPPLIES TO COUNTY GENERAL HOSPITAL

Kakamega County General and Referral Hospital Tuesday morning received a donation of assorted medical supplies worth Sh3 Million from their health partner AMPATH to help in the fight against Covid-19 pandemic.

Speaking at KenAphia offices, Kakamega, during a brief meeting with the organization’s Senior Technical Officer Dr. Eric Wamaiyo, the County Executive Member for Health Services Dr. Collins Matemba thanked AMPATH and other partners for their support especially during these tough Covid-19 era.

“We are happy for this timely donation and highly appreciate all the partners who have supported us during this period. These goods will be reserved for Kakamega County General and Referral Hospital and Mumias Hospital being the main Covid-19 centers in the County,” Dr. Matemba said.

Dr. Eric Wamaiyo observed that the organization will continue supporting the County’s Health Department in order to combat Covid-19 pandemic and added that if more funding is channelled to the organization, Kakamega should expect additional support.

AMPATH has trained over 500 Community Health Volunteers and 200 Health workers. It has also supported the Department of Health in dissemination of information through both local and national media.

Among the goods received today were, infrared digital thermometers, face shields, face masks, IV Cannula and gloves among others.

Kakamega County Director of Health Services Dr. John Otieno, Deputy Non Pharmaceutical Coordinator Mr. Eliud Molenje, AMPATH Chief of Party Mr. Sylvester Wamaiyo and Clinical Administrator Jacqueline Wastephen were also present.
