BUKHUNGU STADIUM CAPSULE TERRACING COMPLETE.
The County Government of Kakamega, in partnership with the National Government, has today completed the terracing of the 24,000-seater Bukhungu Stadium ring capsule, effectively locking the entire sitting space.
The completion of the terracing follows a recent inspection of the facility by H. E. Governor Fernandes Barasa, which led to the fast-tracking of the ongoing construction works.
Speaking during the inspection of works at the stadium, Roads and Public Works CECM, Arch. Patrick Kundu, expressed satisfaction with the progress of the construction. He noted that with the completion of the terracing works, the project will now move to the finishing phase to prepare the facility for official use by the residents of Kakamega and the nation at large.
The Bukhungu Stadium project is expected to be completed by December 2026, paving the way for the hosting of national and international football matches, including the African Cup of Nations.
Present during the inspection exercise was Chief Officer for Public Works, Mr. Pascal Were, alongside other senior county officials.
