CALLS FOR REVIVAL OF MUMIAS SUGAR COMPANY INTENSIFY
Kakamega Governor H.E FCPA Fernandes Barasa has reiterated the importance of a Sugar Conference to serve as a platform to facilitate discussions and decisions on revival of the sugar sector and contribute to the economic empowerment of residents.
The Governor was speaking at a church service at Anglican Church of Kenya (ACK) Christ Church Cathedral in Kakamega on Sunday in the presence of President William Ruto where he also called on the President’s involvement in revival of the sugarcane industry, a major income earner for the residents of Kakamega County and the entire Western region.
The County boss further appealed for unending support from the National Government in the expansion process of Kakamega airstrip to a fully fledged Airport as well as the timely completion and operationalization of the 750-bed capacity Kakamega County Teaching and Referral Hospital.
The event was also attended by Prime Cabinet Secretary H.E Musalia Mudavadi, Nairobi Governor H.E Johnson Sakaja, Senator Boni Khalwale and various leaders from the Western region and beyond.
Bishop Charles Asilutwa of the Diocese of Maseno North presided over the service.
