COUNTY BEGINS RENOVATION OF BUNGASI HEALTH CENTRE
The County Government of Kakamega has officially commenced the renovation of Bungasi Health Centre in Musanda Ward, a project aimed at improving access to quality healthcare services to residents. The works, which have been awarded to Johny Contractors, are expected to be completed within 12 months.
The renovation project will cover the Outpatient Department (OPD), Maternal and Child Health (MCH) unit, maternity block, and staff quarters. Once complete, the upgraded facility is expected to enhance service delivery, provide a better working environment for healthcare workers, and improve maternal and child health services in the area.
Speaking during the site handover, Chief Officer for Public Works, Mr. Pascal Were, tasked the contractor to prioritize the employment of unskilled labour from the local community in line with Governor Fernandes Barasa’s Wealth Creation development pillar. He noted that the approach will not only support timely implementation of the project but also create employment opportunities and boost household incomes for local residents.
Present at the handover ceremony were Musanda Ward MCA, Mr. Joseph Omusinde, County Structural Engineer, Eng. Jared Salano, the Bungasi Health Centre leadership, county officials, and members of the local community.
