MATUNGU BODA BODA GROUPS RECEIVE EMPOWERMENT FUND TO DIVERSIFY LIVELIHOODS

H.E. Governor FCPA Fernandes Barasa today hosted chairpersons of boda boda stages from Matungu Sub-County at his Harambee residence, where he disbursed the KSh 2,913,000 Empowerment Fund raised during the Boda Boda empowerment programme held on Saturday at Eshiembekho Grounds in Mayoni Ward.
The initiative benefited various boda boda groups across Matungu Sub-County to support group businesses and other income-generating activities aimed at improving the economic well-being of their members.
In his address, Governor Barasa thanked the organising committee, boda boda leaders and all stakeholders for their dedication, cooperation and support in making the empowerment programme a success. He also commended political leaders for working together and prioritising the interests of the youth through initiatives that promote economic empowerment and improve livelihoods. The Governor further appreciated leaders from across the country who attended and supported the event.
He urged the beneficiaries to utilise the funds prudently by investing in viable group enterprises that will diversify their sources of income, strengthen their financial stability and create sustainable economic opportunities for their members.
Governor Barasa said the County Government will continue supporting youth and community-based groups through empowerment programmes that promote economic inclusion, create sustainable livelihoods and accelerate socio-economic development across Kakamega County.
