COUNTY EXECUTIVE HINTS AT POSSIBLE EXTENSION OF GRANTS APPLICATION

The deadline for applying for the social protection grants advanced by the County Government of Kakamega through the Ministry of Social Services, Sports, Youth, Gender and Culture may be extended to allow for more willing groups to apply. This follows numerous requests from business people who were locked out by the application deadline.

The announcement was made by the incharge County Executive Committee Member Mr Mophat Mandela on Saturday when he graced the Navakholo Sub-County Music and Cultural Festivals at Navakholo Sports Club.

The CECM explained that the grants are meant to empower women, youth and people with disabilities. Successful applicants will receive Ksh 50,000.

During the event the CECM feted and awarded some of best performers of the day among them the thrilling Weremba “kamabeka” Cultural Dancers and wished them the best at the Governor’s Gala slated for 24th November, 2023.

Kakamega County are the reigning National Music and Cultural Festivals champions for nine years in a row and will be aiming to replicate the same form at the national competitions later this year.

Present were Director Culture Ms Gaudencia Otipa and Navakholo Sub-County Administrator Mr Luke Otipo among other Officers.
