COUNTY HOSTS PS FOR DEFENCE AND HEALTH ON KAKAMEGA LEVEL 6 HOSPITAL PROGRESS.

The County Government of Kakamega, today, hosted Principal Secretary for Health, Dr. Ouma Oluga, and Principal Secretary for Defence, Dr. Patrick Mariru, on an inspection tour of the ongoing construction of the Kakamega Level 6 Referral Hospital.

The two principal secretaries commended the County Government for the strong intergovernmental collaboration that has accelerated the implementation of the project, noting that construction works on the third and fourth floors have already been completed.

The two PSs, further, reaffirmed the commitment of both levels of government to ensuring the project is completed by December 2026, noting that the continued collaboration between the National and County Governments will be key to delivering a modern referral facility capable of providing specialized healthcare services to residents of Kakamega and the wider Western Kenya region.

County Executive Committee Member for Roads, Energy and Public Works, Arch. Patrick Kundu, noted that upon completion of its three phases, the Kakamega Level 6 Referral Hospital will stand as a landmark health infrastructure project and a masterpiece of engineering in Kenya.

County Executive Committee Member for Health Services, Dr. Livingston Imbayi, stated that once operational, the facility will become a major medical hub for Western Kenya, creating more than 5,000 direct and indirect employment opportunities while enhancing access to specialized healthcare services.

Those present during the inspection visit included Chief Officer for Medical Services, Dr. David Alilah, Chief Officer for Public Works, Mr. Pascal Were, Chief Officer for Public Health, Mrs. Rose Muhanda, and respective county directors.
