COUNTY, IHI, JACARANDA HEALTH COMMIT TO DELIVER MORE IN THE NEWLY CONSTRUCTED MODERN MATERNITY WINGS.
The County Government of Kakamega has intensified efforts to improve maternal and newborn care through the rollout of the “Delivering More” initiative, a program aimed at designing healthcare spaces to enhance the quality of care.
The initiative, led by Kakamega County in collaboration with the Institute for Healthcare Improvement (IHI), MASS Design Group, and Jacaranda Health, is being implemented under the Safe Delivery for Mothers and Newborns (SDR) project. The program focuses on innovative design approaches to improve healthcare facilities, with a strong emphasis on safety, dignity, privacy, and overall patient experience.
Speaking during the session, the Chief Officer for Public Health commended development partners for their continued support and reaffirmed the County’s commitment to the optimal utilization of the newly constructed maternity wings in Likuyani, Malava, and Matungu. She further emphasized the County’s commitment to equipping the upgraded facilities to ensure full operationalization, including the provision of essential medical equipment, adequate human resources for health, and necessary health products and technologies.
The session also provided a platform for discussions on further uplifting the three facilities to ensure a safe and dignified environment for mothers during childbirth across Kakamega County.
Also present at the meeting were Director of Medical Services, Dr. Stephen Wandei, and the Jacaranda Health team led by Mr. Victor Masolia.
