COUNTY OFFICERS CONDUCT AN AUDIT OF BUILDINGS
The Chief Officer for Lands Administration, Survey and Physical planning Ms Faith Gitira on Friday led a team of County Government technical Officers in an inspection and audit exercise of buildings in Lurambi, Shinyalu and Malava to check on their compliance with the required standards for buildings under construction.
The exercise targeted buildings in the three Sub-Counties where a random sample of structures were identified to provide a reflection of the probable status and compliance standards in the construction industry in Kakamega County.
According to the Chief Officer, the exercise is a continuous process in the entire County aimed at checking the structural integrity of buildings to avert calamities such as death arising from collapse of buildings.
The CO reminded both private and public developers to seek approval from the relevant Government agencies before commencing any construction. She further directed County Officers incharge of plan and buildings approvals to stick to the code of conduct expected of Government employees when approving structures for construction.
