FIRST LADY APPEALS TO STAKEHOLDERS TO HELP CURB TRIPLE THREAT
Kakamega First Lady H.E Prof. Janet Kassily Barasa on Friday held an inaugural advocacy meeting with Members of County Assembly from Matungu, Butere, Khwisero, Mumias East and Mumias West Sub-Counties to deliberate on TRIPLE THREAT (GBV, HIV/AIDs and Teenage Pregnancies) in Kakamega County.
The main aim of the meeting was to share information about the current situation and together come up with strategies that will ensure the vices are eliminated from the region which has been hard hit.
Prof. Kassily informed the members and partners that winning the war against the TRIPLE THREATS: New HIV/AIDS Infections, Adolescent Pregnancies And Gender Based Violence requires a multi sectoral approach; and observed that having the MCAs’ on board will ensure the Bills to make the elimination a reality are hastily ratified and members of the public properly informed of the policies.
She called upon key stakeholders to fasttrack viable policies that will ensure the soaring numbers are scaled down.
The partners led by Nephak committed to work with elected leaders, religious leaders, community care givers and other actors in ensuring the burden is lessened.
The First Lady who doubles up as a Nutrition champion in the County will also hold similar meetings in the Central and Northern regions.
