COUNTY OFFICIALLY RECEIVES LIKUYANI MODERN MATERNITY AS CONSTRUCTION WORK IS COMPLETED.
The County Government of Kakamega has officially received the Likuyani Modern Maternity, constructed in partnership with Jacaranda Health. The state-of-the-art facility was launched in July 2025 by H. E. Fernandes Barasa and boasts a 70-bed capacity, a modern theatre, a Newborn Unit, and other critical maternal and neonatal care amenities designed to enhance service delivery in the region.
Representing the Governor during the handover ceremony, CECM for Health Services, Dr. Livingston Imbayi, lauded Jacaranda Health for its strategic support, noting that once operational, the facility is expected to significantly reduce neonatal mortalities in the Northern region and the neighboring areas.
Dr. Imbayi further acknowledged Jacaranda Healthโs PROMPT SMS platform, which provides timely reminders to expectant mothers to attend antenatal and postnatal clinics. The organization has also supported Emergency Obstetric and Newborn Care (EMONC) mentorship programs aimed at strengthening the capacity of Kakamega County maternity staff.
The Jacaranda Health team, led by Ms. Siglinder Zawadi, commended Kakamega County for fostering a collaborative partnership that ensured the successful and timely completion of the maternity ward project.
Also present during the handover were Chief Officer for Public Health, Mrs. Rose Muhanda, Director of Medical Services Dr. Stephen Wandei, and members of the Likuyani Hospital Management Committee.
