COUNTY RECEIVES VENTILATORS FROM USAID

Kakamega County Deputy Governor has expressed his gratitude to the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) for being at the forefront in supporting Kakamega in the war against Covid-19 pandemic.Prof. Kutima was speaking at the County Headquarters Kakamega on Friday after receiving a donation of 10 ventilators from the organization worth Ksh 25 million.He thanked the USAID team led by the Ag. Deputy Mission Director USAID Kenya Mr. Harrity Warren for the donation saying it will boost the County’s efforts in the fight against Covid-19. The impact of the pandemic, the DG regretted, has hit the country hard slowing down economic growth.”This donation will boost our efforts that are geared towards equipping the ICU ward to the required standards.Mr. Harrity on his part assured that USAID will continue supporting County Governments to save lives during this pandemic.MEANWHILE, Health Services County Executive Dr. Collins Matemba has said the equipment recieved will be key in providing the much needed support to the County’s health system. He spoke this at the County General and Referral Hospital grounds during the official handover of the equipment to the facility’s Medical Superitendent Dr. Victor Zimbulu in the presence of the USAID team.Dr. Matemba expressed optimism that the instruments will assist in preventing loss of lives at the facility. He also used the opportunity to invite doctors to a round-table discussion next week aimed at addressing the practitioners’ grievances.
