COUNTY TO COMPLETE MALAVA DAIRY PLANT BY DECEMBER 2023

Governor FCPA Fernandes Barasa has affirmed his Administration’s commitment to ensure completion of Malava Dairy plant by December 2023. He made the remarks when he celebrated a Holy Mass at St. Mary’s Lwanda Catholic Parish in West Kabras Ward, Malava Sub-County.

Upon operationalization of the milestone project, H.E the Governor said, the plant will be a game changer as it will not only package and sell milk, but also maximize on all the available dairy value chains hence realizing his food security and wealth creation agendas for the residents of Kakamega County.

FCPA Barasa also announced County plans to upgrade Kambi ya Mwanza – Lukume all weather road to bitumen standards as well as construction of Bukhakunga – Mutsuma bridge to enhance communication in the area.

The County boss added his government will construct a new Shikutse Dispensary that will also host a Maternity wing to aid in delivery of quality health services to the locals and minimize the pressure currently being shouldered by the neighbouring Shihome Dispensary in South Kabras Ward.

Governor Barasa further extended an invitation to the residents of Malava Sub-County, and the entire Lake Region Economic Bloc sugar zone, to the upcoming Sugar Conference that will be hosted on 8th September, 2023 at Kakamega Bukhungu International Stadium.

The conference is expected to iron out challenges facing the sugar industry in Kenya by finding and implementing best management practices.

Present were MCAs led by the host who is also Minority Leader Hon. David Ndakwa, Chief Officer for Lands CPA David Kulova, Advisor Governance and Strategy Mr. Saidi Khasavuli, Chairperson KDDC Board Mr. Murambi Sikolia, Directors and Administrators among other faithfuls.
