Kakamega County Governor H.E FCPA Fernandes Barasa has announced that his Government in partnership with the National Government will tarmack Kakamega Airstrip-Shinyalu-Chepsonoi Road to enhance communication between Kakamega and Nandi Counties and spur economic growth.

Governor Barasa made the announcement when he attended a mass service at St. Joseph Shibuye Catholic Church Shinyalu Sub-County on Sunday.

“Construction of this road falls under the mandate of the Kenya National Highway Authority (KENHA) but because it serves our people, my Administration will initiate talks with the National Government with an aim of partnering to ensure this important road is tarmacked to ease movement and contribute to the development of Kakamega and our neighbours Nandi,” he said.

The County, FCPA Barasa stated, will also prioritise completion of flagship projects initiated by his predecessor to enhance service delivery.

Kakamega County Tea Factory in Shinyalu Sub-County, the County boss emphasized, will be operationalized to provide a ready market for tea farmers and create employment opportunities for the residents.

The Governor reiterated that his Administration will inject Ksh 1.2 Billion into the County’s economy across the sixty wards to enhance development in Roads, Energy and Water sectors under the Ward Development Fund Initiative.

He was accompanied with Members of County Assembly of Kakamega led by the Deputy Speaker Hon. Benard Shitiabayi and Shinyalu Sub-County Administrator Mr. Henry Mbayaki.
