Kakamega County successfully hosted this year’s Western Region Secondary Schools Ball Games with various venues staging scintillating matches in the respective disciplines.
Kakamega Governor H.E FCPA Fernandes Barasa graced the exciting football boys finals which saw Shanderema humiliate Musingu School 3-0 at the capacity filled Bukhungu Stadium, claiming the regional boys football title. The two teams will represent Western region in the upcoming national competitions that will be held in Kakamega County next month.
Governor Barasa congratulated all the victors in the various categories and sports disciplines and wished them well at the national level.
He used the platform to remind youths to register for the Governor’s Cup that kicks off in August featuring Football, Rugby, Volleyball and Netball disciplines.
In attendance was UDA Secretary General Cleophas Malala, the Executive led by Social Services, Sports, Youth, Gender and Culture’s Mr Mophat Mandela and the County Secretary and Head of Public Service Dr Bonface Okoth.
