DEPUTY GOVERNOR HOSTS CHINESE MEDICAL EQUIPMENT COMPANY OFFICIALS

Deputy Governor H.E. Prof. Philip Museve Kutima hosted a delegation from a Chinese company, Jiangsu Saikang Medical Equipment Company Limited led by the company’s general manager Mr. Michael at the county headquarters today. The company specializes in manufacturing and supply of medical equipment and furniture.

The deputy governor thanked the team and expressed the government’s interest in partnering with them once details of the engagement have been fully digested by both parties. “Kakamega is centrally located making it easily accessible by other East African countries such as Uganda, Tanzania and Rwanda and we would like to make it the hub for manufacturing of your products depending on how we engage further,” Prof. Kutima said. He added that with the soon to be commissioned phase one of the state of the art Kakamega County Teaching & Referral Hospital (KCT&RH), there will be need for supply of a lot of equipment for the facility hence the need to work together.

The company also has interest in opportunities in the Education and Agricultural sectors in addition to the medical field.

Earlier on in the company of Chief Officer for Health Projects Dr. Brenda Makokha and the Deputy Chief of Staff Mr. Herbert Sore, the team had toured the facility (KCT&RH) where they expressed their contentment at its size and design.

In attendance was the CECM for Health Services Rachel Okumu, County Secretary and Head of Public Service Madam Jacinta Aluoch Odhiambo, County Attorney Moses Sande, Chief of Staff Robert Sumbi and the medical superitentent among other senior government officers.
