ECDE TEACHERS IN KAKAMEGA ABSORBED ON PERMANENT AND PENSIONABLE TERMS

The County Government of Kakamega has absorbed 2,060 Early Childhood Development Education (ECDE) teachers and 174 County Polytechnic instructors on permanent and pensionable employment terms.

The officers have been serving on a three year renewable contract based in individual performance.

Presiding over the ceremony at the Bukhungu International Stadium on behalf of Kakamega County Governor H.E. Hon. Dr FCPA Wycliffe Ambetsa Oparanya, the CECM for Education, Science and Technology Dr. George Lutomia thanked the teaching staff for their patience during the actualisation of the confirmation process. Dr Lutomia commended the Governor for his commitment in enhancing terms of ECDE teachers and Polytechnic instructors as well as improving infrastructure in educational institutions across the County.

“The goodwill and effort by H.E the Governor is aimed at boosting the morale of teachers; this is key in ensuring they instill good morals and strong foundation to our young ones,” Dr. Lutomia noted.

On her part, the Chairperson of the County Public Service Board Madam Catherine Raini Omweno said the process was exhaustive, competitive and fair and congratulated the officers for meriting. Madam Omweno, who was accompanied by her Board Member Madam Silvia Itembe, further urged the staff to adhere to the principles of public service noting that imparting knowledge and good morals in the juveniles requires professionalism and efficiency.

Chief Officer Madam Doreen Amwoga said the County Government is on course with the excercise of equipping facilities in the devolved learning institutions.
