FIRST LADY DONATES COMMON USER GOODS TO STUDENTS IN KAKAMEGA COUNTY

As the world grapples with the unfortunate crisis of the Corona virus pandemic, many students from poor families lack access to common user goods. Kakamega County First Lady H.E Priscillah Ambetsa Oparanya on Tuesday donated sanitary towels, undergarments and soap to schools in Khwisero, Mumias East and Matungu Sub-Counties.

Mrs Oparanya said that many students miss school due to the embarrassment ocassioned by lack of personal effects such as sanitary towels.

“A big number of underprivileged girls stay away from school for at least four days every month due to menstruation. These issues are not well managed due to lack of resources, reason why this donation will help reduce pupils absenteism in our schools, thus improving academic performance and personal hygiene,” she said.

The First Lady visited Ikomero Primary in Khwisero Sub-County, Emukhalalire Primary School in Mumias East Sub-County, Shiyabo and Mukunyuku Primary schools in Matungu Sub-County.
