FIRST LADY LEADS RESIDENTS IN COMMEMORATING WOMEN’S DAY
First Lady H.E Prof. Janet Kassily Barasa on Tuesday led residents of Kakamega County in commemorating the 2023 International Women’s Day at Kakamega Rehabilitation School in Lurambi Sub-County, Kakamega.
In her speech, Prof. Kassily noted that despite making positive strides thus far, a lot can be achieved in future through stakeholder support and implored women to be confident and not afraid of pushing all the boundaries.
She urged the President of the Republic of Kenya H.E William Ruto to rally Government actors in fast tracking the two-thirds gender rule which she noted will assist in addressing the inequalities in Government appointments.
This year’s theme was ‘DigitALL Innovation and Technology for Gender Equality’ serving as an important reminder of the immense potential that digital transformation holds for accelerating gender equality and women’s empowerment.
The event was also attended by the CECMs led by the CECM Social Services, Sports, Youth, Gender, Culture, Children and Library Services Mr Mophat Mandela, Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology Vice Chancellor Prof. Solomon Shibairo, Chief Officers and Advisors among other Officers from both levels of Government.
