FIRST LADY ON THE NEED FOR LACTATION ROOMS AT WORKPLACES

Kakamega First Lady H.E Prof. Janet Kassily Barasa has said there is need to set aside lactation rooms at workplaces to support and promote breastfeeding among working mothers.

The First Lady who is also the County Nutrition Champion made the remarks at Holy Spirit Bulimbo Catholic Church in Matungu Sub-County where she celebrated holy mass. Breastfeeding babies for the first 1000 days of birth as recommended by the World Health Organization (WHO), is crucial for the optimal growth and brain development.

The World Breastfeeding Week is held from 1st-7th August, every year.
