GOVERNMENT SET TO DIGITISE LAND GOVERNANCE

Kakamega County Executive Committee Member (CECM) for Lands, Housing, Urban Areas and Physical Planning Peninah Mukabane on Thursday attended a workshop in Homabay County on the Digital land Governance Program for eight Western cluster counties organized by FAO, Council of Governors (CoG) and the National Government’s Ministry of Lands.

The program aims at improving the security of tenure and equitable access to Land and Natural resources for enhancement of livelihoods and sustainable socio-economic development, through supporting counties to digitize their land records by strengthening their GIS departments and completing their spatial plans as well as completion and enactment of the valuation for rating bills.

According to the CECM, the program will advance the agenda of Kakamega Governor H.E FCPA Fernandes Barasa’s in line with his Social Development and Good Governance Pillars.

It will result in efficient and effective land governance through digitization of land records and processes, improved conflict and dispute resolutions mechanisms on land and natural resources and improved and inclusive policy legal and institutional frameworks.
