GOVERNOR BARASA JOINS NATIONAL LEADERS FOR MUMIAS EAST EMPOWERMENT PROGRAMME

Women, youth and organised groups remain key drivers of community development, contributing significantly to economic growth, entrepreneurship and social transformation.
In support of this agenda, H.E. Governor Dr. Fernandes Barasa today joined fellow leaders led by the Speaker of the National Assembly, Rt. Hon. Moses Wetang’ula, during the Mumias East Sub-County Empowerment Programme held at Shianda Town.
In his address, Governor Barasa said people-centred empowerment initiatives continue to strengthen livelihoods, support small businesses and expand economic opportunities for residents across Kakamega County. He noted that the County Government remains committed to empowering women, youth and organised groups through programmes that promote entrepreneurship, skills development and economic self-reliance.
The Governor commended the National Government for ongoing development projects across the Western region under the leadership of H.E. President William Ruto, citing key investments including the construction of the Kakamega County Level 6 Referral Hospital, the completion of Bukhungu Stadium through a partnership between the County and National Governments, improvement of road infrastructure and other transformative projects.
Governor Barasa also outlined his administration’s development priorities for Mumias East Sub-County, including the construction of a Level 4 Hospital, expansion and improvement of the road network, access to clean water and implementation of other priority projects aimed at enhancing service delivery and improving the quality of life for residents.
He further encouraged eligible residents to register as voters and participate actively in the democratic process as the country prepares for the 2027 General Election.
The empowerment programme was also attended by the President’s aide Farouk Kibet, Bungoma Senator Wafula Wakoli, Members of Parliament, Hon. Benjamin Washiali, Members of the County Assembly and other National and County leaders.
