Governor Barasa Secures Comprehensive Medical Cover for County Staff

A healthy workforce not only ensures job satisfaction but also enhances productivity and service delivery.

For the first time since devolution, county government staff in Kakamega and their immediate family members have access to reliable and quality healthcare services, including inpatient, outpatient, maternity, dental, and optical care. This is made possible by a comprehensive medical cover provided by the employer, ending years of struggle where public officers had to rely on personal medical insurance.

Governor Fernandes Barasa, in his commitment to a positive workplace culture, is implementing policies that boost employee morale, ensuring their well-being while improving service delivery to the people of Kakamega County.

Under Governor Barasa’s Good Governance pillar, county staff today attended the first-ever member education clinic at the County Social Hall. The session was conducted by officers from Transnep and Jubilee/M-Tiba, the contracted insurance providers, to enhance understanding of the available health cover packages. This initiative brings relief and fulfillment to public servants.

During the plenary session, concerns raised by participants were satisfactorily addressed by Jubilee Insurance officers, led by Ms. Terry Ndung’u, and Ms. Samantha Koskey of Transnep, the brokerage firm. The medical cover ranges from KSh750,000 for the lowest cadre staff to KSh10 million for top-level employees.

The visiting team, coordinated by County Executive Committee Member for Public Service and County Administration, Dr. Bonface Okoth, and Chief Officer Ms. Priscah Otipa, will conclude the three-day sensitization exercise this Thursday at Mumias Cultural Center, Mumias West Sub-County, and on Friday at Lumakanda Tac Hall, Lugari Sub-County, starting at 9:00 a.m.
