Governor Barasa Urges County Officials to Boost Service Delivery as New Chief Officer is Sworn In.

This morning, H.E. Governor Dr. Fernandes Barasa, FCPA, presided over the swaering in ceremony of Mr. Amos Oscar Odunga as Chief Officer for Livestock and Fisheries at the County Chambers. During the ceremony, the Governor called on county officials to strengthen service delivery and fast-track development projects.
Dr. Odunga brings invaluable experience and leadership to support farmers and grow the sector. He takes over from the late Jessica Weku Wesonga, whose service the Governor described as exemplary and inspiring.
Speaking during the ceremony, the Governor urged members of the County Executive to work as a team and take responsibility in serving residents, asking public servants to use their positions to deliver results and meet public expectations.
He directed departments to speed up key ongoing projects, including the Kakamega Level Six Hospital, a joint project with the National Government, which he said must be completed by December. He ordered that all equipment be installed by September to ensure readiness for operationalisation. He added that Bukhungu Stadium is on course for completion by year-end and must be ready to host matches during the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations.
The Governor also confirmed his plan to complete all ward-based projects by December, stressing his commitment for fair development across the county. On revenue, he called on the Executive to support own-source collections under the RRI programme to improve service delivery. He also urged staff to encourage eligible voters in their community areas to register, noting that public participation is key to democracy.
