GOVERNOR BARASA’S MASHINANI INITIATIVE TRANSFORMS LIVES
The ongoing Barasa Mashinani Civic Education and Community Empowerment Program is a clear testament to the commitment of H.E Dr. Fernandes Barasa to transform lives at the grassroots.
From Likuyani to Malava, Shinyalu, Ikolomani, and now Lurambi Sub-county’s Butsotso Central Ward, residents have continued to benefit from essential free medical services including malaria testing, HIV screening, cancer checks, chest X-rays, dental care, eye clinics, and general consultations.
The exercise is scheduled every Friday, with the next set to take place in Matungu Sub-county. For many in interior areas who struggle to access healthcare, this initiative is not just a service; it is hope restored and dignity upheld. Beyond healthcare, the program also serves as a powerful platform for civic engagement and development awareness.
County Executive members, led by Chief Officer of Public Health Ms. Rose Muhanda and Mr. Henry Marende are actively educating residents on government projects while encouraging SHA registration.
The call for unity and collective progress reflects Governor Barasa’s vision of inclusive leadership that rises above political divides. His determination to reach every citizen and fulfill his manifesto promises continues to inspire confidence, positioning him as a leader genuinely committed to improving lives and building a stronger, healthier Kakamega County.
The exercise is spearheaded by Mr. Stephen Shitanda in collaboration with the Department of Health and partners including NTSA, KRA, Elites Boda Transport Cooperative Society, Huduma Kenya, among others.
