GOVERNOR OPARANYA DIRECTS STAFF TO FOCUS ON REVENUE TARGETS AS HE UNVEILS COUNTY e-REVENUE SOLUTION

Kakamega governor H.E. Wycliffe Ambetsa Oparanya today directed government staff to fully utilize the newly unveiled e-Revenue collection solution and come up with strategies to revamp all revenue streams.

He said the manual systems have been a big drain on government revenues due to their inbuilt weaknesses that make them prone to pilferage.

He also urged all ministries to initiate Pyblic sensitization campaigns to bring customers up to speed on operations of the digital revenue collection.

The governor was speaking at Bukhungu Stadium today when he presided over the launch of the ERP system and e-Revenue collection solution.

“When we started piloting the cashless system in 2018, Kakamega County was collecting slightly less than half a billion shillings annually. One year down the line, we have moved closer to one billion shillings,” he said, adding that the improvement was due to the partial automation that his Administration put in place over the period.

Highlights of the governor’s activities and speech:

# He launched the County ERP system and e-Revenue collection solution to improve service delivery and curtail revenue leakages that are rampant in the existing manual operations
#He witnessed a live demo on the solution and expressed confidence in its efficacy

# He said all county employees should own the system and be responsible for revenue enhancement efforts in their respective ministries and departments

#Each employee to be given revenue targets that must be met within the framework of their day to day performance appraisals

#The revenue agency head was instructed to develop a strategy involving all Community Area Administrators who will also be given specific targets
#The CGH administrator will organize his team accordingly

#The governor emphasized that governments exist to deliver services to tax payers and initiate development projects; they don’t engage in business or profit making ventures
