KAKAMEGA COUNTY HELD IN KICOSCA OPENER

Kenya Inter-County Sports Association (KICOSCA) games football defending champions Kakamega County were held to a barren draw in the first match of their title defence campaign against Kilifi County before settling for another 2-2 draw with Laikipia County in their second pool match.

The two matches saw the tournament favourites pick up two points out of the possible six with one pool match remaining against Kitui County, an encounter they have to win to remain in contention of the title they won in Kisumu County, last year.

The Kakamega forward line was wasteful infront of the goal in both matches blowing away numerous chances moreso in their match against an exhausted Laikipia County side. Instances of poor officiating from the centre referee however marred the was to be exciting match of the day.

In volleyball, Kakamega ladies picked up wins against West Pokot (3-0) and Kericho (3-1) to set one foot into the knockout stage as their male counterparts lost against defending champions Uasin Gishu before redeeming themselves against the no-show Embu County for a 3-0 final score in favour of Kakamega.

Kakamega Tug of War Ladies team put up a spirited comeback to defeat Nyandarua County despite weighing 16 kilogrammes less before the match. Their male counterparts also blew off opposition from hosts Meru County in their first match and will be looking forward to trounce Nyandarua County tomorrow, Wednesday, to seal their fate at their knockout stage.

Action is also expected in Darts, Ajua, Golf and Choir.
