KAKAMEGA FIRST LADY ATTENDS THE WOMEN DELIVER-WD2023 CONFERENCE
The First Lady Kakamega County H.E Prof. Janet Kassily Barasa is currently in Kigali, Rwanda, attending a conference dubbed Women Deliver-WD2023. The conference was officially opened on Monday 17th July, 2023 by President Paul Kagame.
Women Deliver– WD2023, which is being held in Africa for the first time, is a significant gathering that brings together global leaders, activists, policymakers and advocates to address the critical issues of gender equality and the wellbeing of girls and women in the 21st century.
The conference which is also being attended by H.E Sahle-Work Zewde of Ethiopia, H.E Katalin Novak of Hungary, H.E Macky Sall of Senegal and the the First Lady Janet Kagame, apart from amplifying the voices of women and girls, promoting inclusivity, and fostering partnerships, the Women Deliver– WD2023 Conference plays a critical role in shaping the agenda for gender equality. It aims at inspiring action, mobilizing resources, and generating momentum to create a more just and equitable world for all.
By convening such a diverse range of stakeholders, the conference creates a platform for meaningful discussions, knowledge sharing, and collective action.
Kakamega County’s First Lady and fellow participants will explore various topics related to gender equality, including women empowerment, reproductive rights, economic opportunities, education, healthcare, and ending gender-based violence. The conference provides a platform for the participants to share their experiences, insights, and best practises, fostering collaboration and generating innovative solutions.
Moreover, the conference provides an opportunity for policymakers and advocates to engage in strategic discussions, shape policies, and make commitments towards advancing gender equality and empowering women and girls. It also serves as a catalyst for driving change at the local, national, and global levels.
