KAKAMEGA GOVERNOR’S CUP TO KICK OFF IN NOVEMBER – DG SAVULA

The Deputy Governor of Kakamega County H.E. Hon. Ayub Savula has said Kakamega County Governor’s Cup Tournament will resume next month. Speaking on Sunday evening during the closing ceremony of Western Region Sports Mentorship Programme held at Mumias Sports Complex grounds, Hon. Savula said through soccer and other sports disciplines, youth will be able to showcase their talents for identification, nurturing and exposure by the County Government.

“When you compete at the Premier League level or represent the Country in International competitions, beyond developing yourself financially, as a County Ambassador you raise the flag of Kakamega much higher attracting investment and creating employment opportunities for residents and other people, especially those in the entrepreneurship sector,” said the Deputy Governor as he delivered Governor Fernandes Barasa’s speech to the participants and football fans.

Mr. Fred Wesonga, the CEO Nyota Media, thanked the County Government of Kakamega for partnering with the company and other stakeholders in hosting the sports programme that brought together 7 teams from secondary school to Premier League level.

Best performers Homeboyz FC took home KShs.100,000, First Runners-up Nyota FC were feted with KShs.50,000, Wazito FC – KShs.40,000, Nzoia FC – KShs.30,000, Sigalagala FC KShs.25,000, St. Peters Mumias Boys KShs.20,000 and Posta FC KShs.10,000.
